Her Royal Highness, Princess Luna of Equestria

 

     Princess Luna is crown princess of Equestria with her sister Princess Celestia. Princess Luna's main job is to raise and lower the moon everyday. Luna doesn't appear in many episodes because she is afraid the ponies might accuse her of her past. Before, Luna grew jealous of her sister because she was getting so much attention. During that time, dark forces called the Nightmare Shadows corrupted Luna, feeding the jealousy for her sister even more. Luna ultimately was overtaken by them, and they turned her into Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon then attacked Canterlot, claiming their should be only one princess in Equestria and that it should be her and the night should last forever. Celestia rejected this claim and banished her sister to the moon forever with the help of the Elements of Harmony. Luna then returns for the final battle, in which she captures Celestia and is then defeated by Celestia's student, Twilight Sparkle. Luna is then transformed back to her normal self, and is forgiven by Celestia. The two are normally seen conversing about affairs of state together. Princess Luna is the daughter of King Cosmos and Queen Galaxia. Princess Luna is also known as the Princess of the Night and the Midnight Princess.
